Saxophone is one of the most popular instruments and is found in all styles of music, from concert band to jazz and rock.

The saxophone’s sound is produced with the help of a small wooden reed that vibrates against the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece, with the reed attached, is placed on the bottom lip and the upper teeth are closed down on the top of the mouthpiece before the player blows a steady stream of air which starts the vibration and sound in motion. The saxophone has a series of keyed tone holes in the body of the instruments – these are pressed by the player’s fingers in different combinations to produce different notes.

Saxophones come in a variety of sizes including soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. Most all saxophonists begin on the alto saxophone, but once you learn to play it, you can easily play the other saxophones.
